Floods at Kingsand Feb 14th 1974 - After the Breakwater was built, it created new tidal currents which scoured the beach, carrying much of it away at times. Storms in 1817 and 1824 which washed away houses, caused a great deal of other damage, thus necessitating the building of seawall. Here you see the strength of the water during a South East gale.
