This website was created jointly by two locals of the Rame Peninsula (John Shepherd and Colyn Thomas) in an endeavour to ensure that its past history is not forgotten. Colyn supplied the material he painstakingly collected over a 45 year period (including the slideshows he presented to the local community) whilst John developed the website. A list of contributors can be found >> here
Increasing numbers of people seeking retirement or holiday homes in the parish have inflated house prices to a level which local young folk are unable to afford. This has resulted in a haemorrhage of young families from the parish with schools and similar institutions particularly suffering.
Grateful thanks are given to all those who have contributed to this website, in particular the indigenous families who remain on the Rame Peninsula and the 8th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe (Robert Edgcumbe).
If you have any material that would grow the image colllection we would be delighted to hear from you. We would be especially grateful to borrow any photographic material or postcards that depict life on the Rame Peninsula in years gone by - the originals will be digitally scanned and safely returned.
We will, of course,in all instances add your name as the contributor for any material we use. We hope you enjoy this website.
